Kicked Up Shrimp
If your propensity to heat is on the low side, reduce the amount cayenne pepper. And if you want to kick it up a notch, add 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes!

Ingredients
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2tbsp butter
  • 1 lb raw shrimpcleaned and shelled
  • 3 cloves garlicpeeled and sliced
  • 4springs fresh thymeor 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
  • 3 sprigs fresh rosemaryor 1/2 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1dried chili pepperwhole
  • 1/2cup beer
  • 1/2tsp smokey Spanish paprika
  • 1/2tsp salt
  • 1tbsp fresh parsleycoarsely chopped
  • 1/4tsp cayenne pepperground
Instructions
  1. Heat the oil and butter in a shallow skillet. Add the garlic, fresh thyme, rosemary springs and the chili pepper, stir and saute until the garlic becomes tender.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients except the shrimp and mix well into the oil and butter mixture. Add the shrimp and simmer until the shrimp are pink, about 3 minutes.
  3. Remove the sprigs of fresh herbs and toss with cooked linguine noodles, sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately.
Recipe Notes

Rather than tossing with linguine noodles, another possibility would be to serve this dish as an appetizer with a crusty, rustic bread for dipping into the rich broth, topped with a spicy shrimp.  Deliciously naughty and hazardous to the waistline!
