10.  Postcards – Who doesn’t love getting something personal in the mail like a postcard.  Postcards can bring a smile, say I’m sorry or become a treasured gift like this postcard from my dad on his trip to Ireland that I displayed on a magnetic tray.  This postcard was sent to me on 7-4-96.  Don’t forget to date that postcard because the postal stamp will fade over time.[shareprints gallery_id=”3764″ gallery_type=”squares” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_60″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]9.  Tea Assortment – I just received this special assortment of Forte Tea from a friend who frequently spoils me with thoughtful gifts. Her friendship is the grandest gift of all.[shareprints gallery_id=”3752″ gallery_type=”squares” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]8.  Handmade Gift – I knit dish clothes, decorate dish towels, sew pillow cases and bake pies to giveaway.  Handmade gifts are so special because you get things you wouldn’t normally make for yourself.  A friend mixed up a special essential oils concoction and treated me to a bottle of it.  A simple misting of this on my sheets at night soothes my senses and prepares my soul for a restful sleep.[shareprints gallery_id=”3768″ gallery_type=”squares” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]7.  Flower Frogs – My dear friend Jeanne sent me this little package a couple of weeks ago.  Who would think these little buggers would get so much use.  I haven’t noticed the flowers in my pots all summer but now I’m nursing those blooms from every frost warning so I can continue to create a simple cut flower arrangement.  Once the patio pots bite the dust, I know I’ll be grabbing bouquets in the grocery store to enjoy these lovely arrangements year-round with the help of my flower frogs.  I had no idea where that name came from so did a quick google search to educate myself…here’s a link if you’re interested in learning about flower frogs.[shareprints gallery_id=”3770″ gallery_type=”squares” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]6.  Bar Soap – I have two colleagues on track to earn a trip to Rome.  I found some adorable bars of soap and on the wrapper it said “When in Rome, talk-a-like-a this.”  I couldn’t a resist a buying a couple of a these a for a my a dear a friends.  You didn’t know I could speak a Italian, did ya!  Here’s another favorite bar soap from Savonnerie des Diligences that I picked up while on my recent trip to Quebec City.[shareprints gallery_id=”3755″ gallery_type=”squares” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”] 5.  Bottle Stoppers – They make a great gift for any occasion and the fun part is finding one that fits a hobby or special interest your friend has…like wine isn’t enough!  They also make a perfect gift when you are self-gifting.  See my recent self-gifting treasure.  I do a lot of self-gifting by the way…when in doubt, give to yourself![shareprints gallery_id=”3762″ gallery_type=”squares” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]4.  Napkins – Cloth, paper; dinner, cocktail…napkins are such a fun little gift.  Here’s one I received from a friend years ago and they still make me chuckle.[shareprints gallery_id=”3772″ gallery_type=”squares” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]3.  Scarves – Get your Frenchie on!  If you’re not into this scarf thing you’re missing out!  There’s no easier way to do some high styling than to throw on a scarf.  I counted…I have 28 scarves not counting the heavy winter ones.  I pick them up on vacations, in airport boutique while killing time, in resale shops and even at Target.  Give your man a scarf and he’ll be SEXYYY!!![shareprints gallery_id=”3774″ gallery_type=”masonry” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_100″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]2.  Books – Whether to read or set on a coffee table, books make great gifts.  I like to pick up vintage books;  a classic novel or poetry and give to those have a special interest in a subject.  I recently picked up The Grapes of Wrath (a 1940 printing) and Wuthering Heights.  I can’t decide if I’m going to keep them or gift them.  I also purchased a book called Kennedy Wit, written inside the cover it reads “A Christmas gift from Nancy to Judy, December 21, 1964.”  This treasure is priceless!  If you give a book as a gift, be sure and personalize it![shareprints gallery_id=”3776″ gallery_type=”masonry” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]1.  Starbucks Gift Card – Hello, who doesn’t love a free cup of java?  It doesn’t have to be $25 buck card.  I have a friend who periodically sends me a Starbucks gift card for $5.  I feel like I won the lottery when I feel this little plastic rectangle between my fingers.  Nothing better than a Venti Green Tea Latte with whole milk and no sweetener, when I’m not coughing up the $4.63 to pay for it.  Thank you, thank you…keep them coming![shareprints gallery_id=”3778″ gallery_type=”masonry” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_70″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”0″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”false” lightbox_type=”slide” titles=”true” captions=”true” descriptions=”true” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]Small gifts are simple gestures to say I’m thinking of You, I Care or Have a Laugh on Me.  They don’t have to cost an arm and a leg, it’s the thought that counts and if you ask me it’s the small gift that brings the greatest joy.  It’s those thoughtful acts of kindness that mean so much.  I have a corner in a closet where I store special items I pick up and have them ready to give as a gift.  Gift giving feels so good!

I hope you enjoyed today’s Top Ten Tuesday.  Please feel free to comment on what small gifts you like to give, I would love to read what special treasures you share with your friends.
